Up until about a week ago I had little hope that Insidious: Chapter 2 would be any good. I had seen Insidious (James Wan 2010) in the theatre and, although I loved the first 30 minutes or so, I felt that the entire section that took place in the Further was ridiculous in a bad way. The demon haunting Dalton (Ty Simpkins) might have had Freddy-style fingers, but it lacked his charm, and a lot of the dialogue was so silly that it felt like I was watching a film written by high school students with no idea of how adults actually speak to one another.
